6. March 21, 1790 Thomas Jefferson became the first Secretary of State
7. March 23, 1775 Patrick Henry gave his “Give me Liberty or Give me Death” speech
8. March 31, 1776 Abigail Adams wrote to her husband requesting he include women in the planning of any new government
